Round 4: Review

6 May 2015 by Wembley Magpies

Coming off our least successful weekend in Round 3, the Wembley Amateur Football Club bounced back in style recording three wins from their four matches in Round 4.

Colts: Wembley 8-10-58 defeated Kingsway 6-3-39.

Returning home in Round 4 after travelling to Whitfords the previous week, the Colts kicked off the action at Pat Goodridge by recording a 19-point victory over Kingsway. The win saw the Colts extend their unbeaten run to three matches and will be looking to continue this unbeaten streak next week when they take on eighth-placed Hamersley Carine in Round 5.

Seconds: Wembley 14-9-93 defeated Kingsway 7-10-52.

Coming off their first loss for the season the previous round, the Seconds were looking to bounce back when they took on Kingsway in the second match of the day at Pat Goodridge, and bounce back they did by recording a 39-point victory in the day. Next round sees the Seconds take on fourth-place Hamersley Carine.

Firsts: Wembley 10-16-76 defeated Kingsway 11-5-71.

Looking to square their season at 2-and-2 the Firsts took to the field in the main match of the day at Pat Goodridge. Newly promoted Kingsway were always going to provide a tough test, with the game going down to the wire. Despite some inaccurate kicking the Firsts eventually prevailed by just 5 points. Next round the Firsts take on the second-placed and undefeated Hamersley Carine in a match that will prove a good indicator of just where the side is at as they strive for A-Grade promotion.

Fifths: Wembley 5-7-37 defeated by Forrestfield 17-14-116.

Making their first appearance for the season, the Fifth Grade were looking to start their campaign with a win when they traveled to Forrestfield in Round 4. Unfortunately the Fifths were unable to record that first up win and eventually fell to a much stronger Forrestfield by 79 points. Next week the Fifths will have another opportunity to break their duck when they take on Brentwood Booragoon.
