Round 7: Review

25 May 2015 by Wembley Magpies

The Wembley Amateur Football Club had yet another successful weekend in Round 7 by banking four wins from five matches.

The Colts, Seconds and Firsts were back at Pat Goodridge Reserve to take on Swan Athletic in Round 7.

Colts: Wembley 14-8-92 defeated Swan Athletic 9-10-64

The Colts managed to extend their unbeaten start to the season in Round 7, knocking off Swan Athletic by 28 points. The Colts strong start to the 2015 season has seen numbers stay strong while a number of Colts have made their senior debut in the Firsts. The Colts next match will prove a key indicator of exactly how well they are going when they take on the similarly undefeated Collegians.

Seconds: Wembley 10-6-66 defeated Swan Athletic 9-8-62.

The Seconds continued their love affair with close matches when they took on Swan Athletic in the second match of the day at Pat Goodridge. Fortunately for the team this time the result went the right way and the Seconds ended up posting a 4-point victory when the final siren went. Next week the Seconds are set to take on sixth-placed Collegians.

Firsts: Wembley 8-8-56 defeated by Swan Athletic 13-10-88.

Coming up against 2014 A-Grade side Swan Athletic was always likely to prove a tough test for the Firsts, and despite a five goal haul from Moody, the side was not able to get over the line eventually falling by 32 points. The Firsts now sit 4-3 on the season and will be looking to improve this record when they take on seventh-placed Collegians in Round 8.

The Thirds and Fourths traveled to Kingsley Oval in Round 7 to take on Kingsley.

Fourths: Wembley 22-13-145 defeated Kingsley 2-0-12.

The Fourths continued their remarkable start to the 2015 season by obliterating their opponents in Round 7 by a whopping 133 points. Having now played each side once the Fourths sit top of the D2 Reserves ladder undefeated and will be looking forward to the bye this weekend before taking on Kalamunda in Round 8.

Thirds: Wembley 8-8-56 defeated Kingsley 5-8-38.

The Thirds headed into their Round 7 match against Kingsley looking to turn around a run of form that had seen them win-less in their last three matches. Fortunately the Thirds were able to bank the win, start their climb back up the ladder and hopefully put an end to the running sessions at Tuesday night trainings. The Thirds will be looking to build momentum from this win when they head to Kalamunda in Round 8 after the bye.
