Round 13: Review

13 Jul 2015 by Wembley Magpies

The Wembley Amateur Football Club had the perfect weekend in Round 13 posting five victories from five in games against Kingsway and Bullcreek Leeming.

The Firsts, Seconds and Colts were back on the road in Round 13 and travelled to Kingsway Reserve on Saturday to take on Kingsway for the second time in season 2015.

Colts: Wembley 8-6-54 defeated Kingsway 6-4-40.

Coming off their first loss for the season the weekend before the Colts were able to bounce back and return to their winning ways in the first match of the day at Kingsway Reserve, winning by 14 points in the end. The Colts remain on top of their ladder and four points clear of Collegians, however Wembley do have a game in hand and will be looking to extend that lead further.

Seconds: Wembley 11-7-73 defeated Kingsway 5-4-34

The Seconds continued their impressive season in the second match-up of the day at Kingsway Reserve, recording a solid 39-point victory over their opponents. The Seconds now sit equal second on the ladder just one match from Scarborough in top spot with their final round clash now looking like a potential minor premiership decider.

Firsts: Wembley 19-6-120 defeated Kingsway 6-11-47

Coming off a strong victory in Round 12 against Whitfords the Firsts were looking to back up this performance and post another win when they took on Kingsway in the final match of the day at Kingsway Reserve. Four goals each from Reid and Noakes ensured a big victory with Wembley outplaying their opponents and recording a 73-point victory. The win pushes the side into fourth position on the ladder with some work to do in the latter stages of the season if they are to catch those above them on the ladder and earn a home final.

The Thirds and Fourths headed to Beasley Park in Round 13 to take on Bullcreek Leeming.

Fourths: Wembley 12-17-89 defeated Bullcreek Leeming 4-3-27.

The Fourths kicked off the action at Beasley Park with a 62-point victory in what was certainly one
of the sides scrappiest performances for the season. The win extended the Fourths unbeaten start to the season to 11 games and the side now sit three games clear on top spot with five matches still to come.

Thirds: Wembley 11-5-71 defeated Bullcreek Leeming 3-6-24.

The final match of the day at Beasley Park saw the Thirds in action who were looking to take revenge on their opponents, a side who ran them down earlier in the year despite Wembley being in a commanding position at three-quarter time. Fortunately their was no repeat of this for the Thirds and they were able to record a solid 47-point victory on the day, a result that sees them hang onto second spot on the table.
