Finals Week 3: Results

7 Sep 2015 by Wembley Magpies

The club has three teams playing in a grand final this week. Unfortunately the League team was the only side to not get over the line this week

League: Wembley 6-9-45 defeated by Hamersley Carine 7-15-57.

A tight game all day in what was described as a low scoring scrappy affair. Hamersley placed considerable pressure on the ball carrier creating errors and opportunity in Wembleys match play. Despite all our efforts to grab the ascendancy we were unable to get over the line.

Unfortunately this ends the season for the league.

B Colts: Wembley 10-7-67 defeated Whitfords 9-3-57

Another tight game where it wasn’t until the last 3 minutes of play that our Colts managed a break. This is great reward for a team that finished on top of the ladder, and now have a shot at a flag against Colts powerhouse Collegians. Its been 10 years since a Wembley Colts team has played in a grand final. Get down support the future of our club.

D2 Grade: Wembley 11-7-73 defeated Kalamunda 3-5-23.

After losing the last game in the home and away season and then the second semi, then having 9 changes to the team, selection dramas, compounded with the coach being away for a wedding in Bali, the 3rds were looking down the barrel.

Unlike previous weeks the thirds switched on from the start and then exerted continuous pressure on the ball carrier with hard tackling and a willingness to take every opportunity. It was the best game that the 3rds played all year defeating Kalamunda by 50 points, sending them home back up the hill. Such a performance must be repeated against an undefeated Whitfords.
